Japanese Soaking Tub
[ADSENSE_0000000112]A Japanese soaking tub, also called an ofuro, is an old concept that has been revived for use in luxury bathrooms. There are several characteristics that make a Japanese soaking tub different from a traditional bathtub.
The shape of a Japanese soaking tub sets it apart from a traditional bathtub. Most Japanese soaking tubs are completely circular or square, not oval or oblong like a traditional bathtub. Some styles may not be completely circular, but are narrow and deep. As a general measure, Japanese soaking tubs are both shorter and deeper.
There are many different materials used to make Japanese soaking tubs. Ofuros were traditionally made of wood, tile or metal. Most are made of modern regular bathtub materials now, such as acrylic and fiberglass.
The most unique feature of a Japanese soaking tub is the type of bath it is designed for. The tub is designed to allow a person to sit upright, with the entire body up to the neck immersed in water.
New models of Japanese soaking tubs are being equipped with luxury features. Whirlpool jets have become a popular addition to these bathtubs.
Japanese soaking tubs offer a space saving advantage. If you are looking to install a luxury bathtub in a small bathroom, a Japanese soaking tub may be a good choice since it is smaller in size. But don’t let the smaller look of the tub fool you – a Japanese soaking tub holds just about the same amount of water when compared to a traditional bathtub because it is so deep.
